Today’s fall outfit is one of my favorite examples of blending handmade, slow-fashion pieces with store-bought items for a look that’s cozy, chic, and seasonally versatile. It may be a little warmer than typical fall weather, but I couldn’t resist the layered look with some breathable pieces that transition perfectly from morning chill to sunny afternoons.
I started with a timeless sweater: the A New Day Light Gray Windowpane Cardigan from Target. This chunky, cozy layer is an instant fall favorite! The soft gray paneling and elegant windowpane print make it a standout, while the V-neckline adds a sophisticated touch. This cardigan can dress up any outfit, making it perfect for days when you want comfort without sacrificing style. Available in sizes XS-4X. Shop the cardigan here!
Underneath, I’m wearing a cotton ruffle blouse from Loft. Its lightweight, airy fabric is ideal for layering without adding bulk, and the ruffle detail lends a touch of femininity. Together, these pieces bring an effortless mix of textures that’s as cozy as it is elegant. Find the blouse here!
For bottoms, I chose my bespoke pants made using the Butterick 6933 pattern in a light gray pinstripe suiting fabric from Mood Fabrics. These tailored, high-waisted pants offer a flattering, classic fit with a touch of stretch. I customized them for my frame, making them a true slow-fashion treasure that I reach for season after season. If you’re inspired to sew your own, the Butterick pattern is perfect for creating custom-fit pieces.
Finally, I brought in a pop of color with the Bannie d’Orsay Red Suede Flats from Nine West. These flats are a dream – they add the perfect amount of femininity and contrast against the neutrals in this outfit, making them a lovely statement. Available in sizes 5-12. Shop these flats here!
This look combines my love for handmade, tailored pieces with accessible fall fashion, all layered up for a warm autumn day. I hope this outfit inspires you to mix and match your fall staples, whether store-bought or handmade, for a look that’s uniquely yours.
