Exploring the Heart and Soul of New Orleans: 5 places to visit in New Orleans Louisiana

New Orleans, a city steeped in vibrant culture and rich history, is a destination that feels alive at every turn. From the lively sounds of jazz spilling out from local bars to the enticing aroma of Creole cuisine wafting through the air, New Orleans offers an experience that captivates all the senses.

My husband and I recently embarked on an unforgettable adventure to this historic city, immersing ourselves in its unique charm and exploring its iconic landmarks. In this post, I’ll share five must-visit places that showcase the essence of New Orleans, each with its own story to tell. Join us as we wander through the streets of the Big Easy!

Our First Stop: Morrow's Restaurant

Kicking off our New Orleans adventure with a feast at Morrow's! 🍹🍸 Happy hour margaritas and martinis paired perfectly with fried catfish, French fries, onion rings, macaroni and cheese, lettuce wraps, and sesame wings. See tried the blueberry, peach and passionfruit margaritas. A delicious start to our trip!

Second Stop: Dessert at Waffle Time

Indulging in a unique treat at Waffle Time! 🍦 We tried the bubble waffle with butter pecan ice cream and Oreos. While it was a fun and different dessert option, it was just okay. Still, a sweet end to our day exploring New Orleans!

Third Stop: Promenade Fine Fabrics

Exploring the rich history of Promenade Fabrics on our second day! 🧵✨ This charming fabric store has been in business for over 50 years, specializing in deadstock and designer fabrics, vintage ribbons, and buttons. A true treasure trove for any sewing enthusiast!

Fourth Stop: Lula's Restaurant and Distillery

Savoring flavors and spirits at Lula's Restaurant and Distillery! 🍔🥃 Known for crafting their own vodka, rum, and gin, Lula's offers a $20 all-you-can-drink vodka special. We enjoyed a perfectly cooked medium-well cheeseburger with French fries and delectable French toast, thinly sliced, buttered, and grilled with chopped pecans and syrup. Our drink of choice? Their signature pomegranate vodka lemonade. A fantastic meal!

Our Fifth and Final Stop: Southern Candymakers

Ending our New Orleans journey on a sweet note at Southern Candymakers! 🍬 I make it a point to stop here every time for their delicious creamy pralines and freshly made candies. Free samples, friendly service, and an amazing aroma make this a must-visit spot! And they ship!

Praline flavors include: original, lemon, sweet potato, and rum. My favorite is the sweet potato.
